Uranquinty Folk Festival

The 53rd Uranquinty Folk Festival is going to be a banger!

This year the whole festival is located at the Uranquinty showground, which means among other things, that the Friday festival opening session will be bigger, brighter, audibly better and longer.  Party and dance late into the night to Cat Magic, Full Irish, Elsewhere Eyes and the famous Paverty band!

Over the rest of the weekend there are all sorts of treats in store, including the screening of a new film! Performers, songwriters, collectors and inspirers have all played a key role in defining and shaping Australia’s changing cultural identity. Immortal remembers and celebrates extraordinarily talented folk artists who are no longer with us, but who have left a lasting legacy through their music, inspiration, knowledge and passion.
Of course the many wonderful traditional events of Quinty remain on the program, including:
  • Poets breakfasts – a chance to hear some truly great Australian poets and performers and even have a go yourself
  • Women’s concert – this just gets bigger and better every year
  • Chorus cup – get together with a friend or three, write and perform a song about the 53rd festival (now friendlier and more fun than ever)
  • Sunday night bush dance – get your dancing shoes on with the Tin Shed Rattlers
  • Veggie Bowls – a madcap game of boules using vegetables instead of balls

And don’t forget the Bush Dance at the Uranquinty Community Hall on Sunday 5 October!
